How to meet with your advisor

Normally, profs are very busy with their teaching and research. And most of the time, they do not have time to check their advisee’s email or sometime even they check but they do not reply it. So for me if I want to meet with my advisor, I will go to check his room around 5pm30 to 6pm30. Anyway, the best way we should send email to them first. This evening, I went to meet with my advisor at 6pm30 but unfortunately he was not in his office . It is bad because I want to submit my progress report to him. And I hope that he can check it during his weekend.

Work room will be closed during christmas

So bad that I cannot access to work room during christmas, however I am not sure that I can access to lab or not. I like to work in my work room because it is quiet, only me and one phd student. I don’t like lab because sometime they have class then we need to move and most of the time there are many students inside.

For this point, I like AIT because event holiday we still can access to our work room

I like the way INT organizes the courses

When I go to AIT, I like the environment there and also the ways the lecturers provide their courses. Not for all courses but in general it is good. But one thing that AIT (in Thailand )cannot compare to telecom sudParis (Ex. INT, France) is that AIT does not have good relationship with the companies and also research centers. Therefore, it is rarely to have people from those sectors to teach us. But in INT, we have people from research centers, companies to provide us short course.  Therefore, we know what the companies are working on right now and we are also have opportunity to get internship in their companies.  Moreover, each lecturer has skill in the course that he/she teaches.

A worst course never meet

Actually, I don’t know what is the title of the course because in the schedule they just put the name of the lecturer. Therefore,I just know the title of each lecture. Right now, what I had studied in the course is about Antenna, radio propagation, MIMO and physical layer. As I don’t have background related to this course and each slide of the lecturer always contains formula. Moreover, the lecturer is always suppose that we have a very strong background in this course and he is always tried to give many chapters as possible. For example, we have only one slide about MIMO and then we have assignment to do. This course is a course that we spend much more time than other courses in doing assignments. I lost many time in class, I don’t know what the lecturer talks about .

As my point of view, if the lecturers want their students get a lot of knowledge, the best way is to give the main points to the students, provide examples and make them clear in each point. It is very bad to teach many chapters and then the students can get only little knowledge.

Inter Vehicle Data Exchange – IVDE

IVDE is the title of my master thesis in AIT (Thailand) and also in INT (France). Right now, I have not finished my proposal yet. I will try to finish it as soon as possible. There are many papers discuss about information dissemination in inter vehicle, but it is difference from what I am working right now. I can find only a few papers that  have the same objective like me.

Objectives of my study are:

• Define data structure/prototype that helps the system to save time in evaluation process and minimize the storage size.

• Determine the technique to aggregate the disseminated data between vehicles. This process will reduce the storage size as we have constraint on the amount of data required to be stored, evaluation time and storage capacity.

• Extract the knowledge from local data base and inform to the vehicle driver.

• Do experiments on the proposed data structures and methods

French class

After finishing intensive French class, now I have only 3 hours a week. The class is from 9am to 12am and we have 10mns break at 11am. It is good for me to join French class, so I can remind it. However, I feel that we do not have enough practice of speaking French in class. Therefore, I do not think that my French language is improved after almost 2 months of staying in France. It is true that I am more reflex in speaking than before I came here, but it is under my expectation.  (France, 30 oct 2008)
